What Is CUDOS?
In 1942, sociologist Robert Merton described four norms of ideal scientific research: Communalism, Universalism, Disinterestedness, and Organized Skepticism.

Communalism refers to the collective ownership and sharing of scientific knowledge and discovery.

Universalism acknowledges that anybody can contribute to scientific advancements and collective knowledge.

Disinterestedness argues for the pursuit of scientific research in the interest of scientific discovery alone.

Organized skepticism means the scientific community should scrutinize the merit of all scientific research.

All put together, science is among our greatest problem solvers.
